Setting Up Photoshop

Auto Colour Correction

Level Basic

Photoshop's default "Auto Colour Correction" settings are not my ideal and often give muddy results. To change for a more pleasing result -

Open Photo

CTRL+L (brings up the Levels dialogue box below)

Select "Options" This reveals "Auto Color Correction Options"

Tick box's as above then click Shadows:

Enter R = 20, G = 20, B = 20

Then OK,

Next select Midtones and enter R = 133, G = 133, B = 133

Then OK

Next select Highlights and enter R = 244, G = 244, B = 244

Then OK

Finally finish of by selecting "Save as defaults", then OK

You have now set up Photoshop "Auto Colour Correction" for RGB.

Now try "Auto Colour Correction" on your photographs, surprised? I was the first time.

These settings are now the default settings for curves as well. Unfortunately all photos tend towards a colour cast, with these settings you have removed any colour casts your camera may have introduced.
