Magnify image up to 100% to view noise
Select
> Red Channel
You will now have a black and white image
displayed. You will get varying levels of noise in each of
the 3 colours, Red, Green and Blue. To remove the noise -
Filter
>
Blur
>
Surface Blur
Radius
10
Threshold
15
Adjust to blur the noise to suit your
requirements
Repeat above for the remaining channels
Green
Blue
Go back to RGB and view the image you will
see that by reducing in each channel you have far better
control over the result than if you use Gaussian Blur or the
built in noise filters.
Surface Blur only blurs large areas of
colour whilst leaving detailed edges alone

The settings you will choose will depend on
the look and feel of the image you are manipulating. I used
the same for each channel (RGB) Radius 10 -
Threshold 5. Each image is different you may only need to
remove the noise in one channel, then that is all you do.
This above image is only an enlarged section of the
corrected image to show the effect.
